Eco-friendly design concept group - Inhabitat.com

Hello everyone

Here's a very interesting design concept group I've known thanks to my project partners in Mexico, Jeff and Vincent. http://www.inhabitat.com/

"Inhabitat.com is a weblog devoted to the future of design, tracking the innovations in technology, practices and materials that are pushing architecture and home design towards a smarter and more sustainable future."

This is really interesting as a website, especially for my architect friends.

Directly in link with the project, the "Rapson Greenbelt", presented on Inhabitat.com, is a sustainable prefab home concept. This will surely be interesting to my partner in Australia. Have a look on http://www.inhabitat.com/2008/02/22/prefab-friday-the-rapson-greenbelt.

Inhabitat.com is definitely a source of inspiration for the project, it entirely rewards thier presence on Oceamex blog.

Meeting with the Mexico city government

Oceamex Project is going really perfectly.

I had the great opportunity and the pleasure to meet the international affairs manager at the environment office of Mexico city government yesterday. The current environment policy of the Mexico city government is really dynamic, and it's definitely a great contact in the aim of my future projects in Europe. In terms of pollution and sustainable development, lots of projects are being organized, and there is a real will from the city of Mexico to resolve ecological problems, and get forward on the way to environment respect, especially on the construction sector, which is, let's remember it, the first source of pollution in the world, before industry. Some opportunities will surely be given birth very soon, and I'm very happy to be now in contact with the government of the biggest city in the world, in terms of superficy.

Staying available for any further question.

Ecological house construction example

This is a very interesting TV report of the French television. It was turned in Portland, Oregon, USA, and explains very well the way it was built. This report is in French but you can hear a little bit the English comments behind.

This report explains the huge growth of the ecological products demand in Portland.

Maison passive en Ardenne

Voici un beau reportage sur une maison passive en Ardenne, dans le sud de la Belgique. Il explique bien comment elle est conçue et ce qu'elle implique dans la vie de tous les jours pour cette famille ardennaise.

Here's a video report on a passive house in the south of Belgium. It explores very well how it was built and wht this house implies in this Belgian family every-day life.

Proyecto Tepeyakatzin - Cholula, Mexico

I'm really happy to be part of the Proyecto Tepeyakatzin in Cholula, close tu Puebla, south of Mexico D.F., for one week. This project has been founded around an ecological house construction, aimed to attract attention around all energy savings possibilities such a house can bring to environment.

This project is being managed by several persons, among them one my best friends, Vincent Aba, very envolved in such problematics, and one of my best technical advisors on the project.

Green construction projects - France

Well, things are going well with the project in Mexico. I'll visit during the next days a green house in Cholula, close tu Puebla. I'll upload some pictures of it very nextly.

Things are really moving a lot in France after the "Grenelle de l'environnement". This colloquium around environment problematics, organized by the French Government, is bringing interesting opportunities to the green market.

You'll have a look on these two articles, written down on the website "Actualités News Environnement", recommended by a friend of mine, Severine, NY, USA, pretty much envolved in such problematics as well.

The first one is talking about a great green hotel and spa complex in western France, launched by Yves Rocher.

http://www.actualites-news-environnement.com/13471-Eco-Hotel-spa-Yves-Rocher.html

The second one is related to the works of the French Agency for the environment, ADEME, to better protect environment in the construction.

http://www.actualites-news-environnement.com/14749-maison-projet-ecologique-guide-ADEME.html

These articles show things are really moving, and the opportunities to call foreign manufacturers and specialized consultants like me are going to appear. Ideas I've seen growing in Australia and New Zealand can really bring interesting know-how to the European market, and it's great for everyone.

Look forward to talking to responsible persons of these two organizations about their projects. My details are present on my blog for any further question.

The Oceamex Project now in Mexico

I'm very happy to get on now with the Oceamex Project in Mexico during one month.

As a first information, I know that sustainable housing is a reality in Mexico. The government is encouraging sustainable housing projects and big homes developers are in front of a growing market all over the country.

For sure it will be a pleasure to give you further information on the meetings and pics reports I'll make.

Green living in Nicaragua

I've just visited an interesting real estate company website.

Here is an extract of their homepage :

"Balcones de Majagual was conceived in the spirit of the Green Movement, designed to emulate, develop, and implement Green concepts and technologies. At Balcones we are involved in more than building and selling homes. We are challenged by the issues of responsible living and are dedicated to delivering a response with progressive architecture, alternative energy, and an unyielding respect for the local environment."

Very interesting idea of what can be green built in Latin America.

Social sustainable building in Noumea

Well, even though eco building is not currently a reality in New Caledonia, there's a certain enthousiasm around new eco technologies and energy savings. I had the opportunity of making several pics in a neighborhood in Magenta, Noumea.
I'll upload pictures of this report very soon.

Sustainable building networking expansion in New Caledonia

The Oceamex Project is in New Caledonia for 2 weeks, and will soon be in Mexico for business development.

My current contacts in New Caledonia are currently exclusively public (Energy agency, Chamber of Commerce, Local government, Noumea city department). With these contacts I can get easily to the market information and contacts, because they know for sure a lot on the current projects. Since a meeting I had in Noumea, I'm in contact with a sustainable development officer at the chamber of commerce, and he's really enthousiast for giving me the most information I ever need. I had time enough to develop a strong network here, and I'm very happy with the results of this stage of the project.

I've been heard there is a strong will from the public authorities here to develop eco tourism on the whole island, and although it can take quite a long time, they're thinking and talking a lot on it.

I got recently a communication from the housing and works western Australian department, in answer to contacts I had with their office in December 2007 in Perth. My current contact is with one of their senior policy officers. The department for housing and works wants to have a meeting with me to talk further on my business project, aimed to assist exporting Australian building companies.

I had great meetings during last weeks, with environmentally involved persons in New Caledonia, and it's great to see there's a great enthousiasm around Oceamex Project.
